Preparations for the 33rd Summer Olympics continue rapidly in the capital Paris. The Olympic games will start with the opening ceremony to be held on the Seine River on Friday, July 26 at 22.00 local time. More than 180 athletes from more than 180 nationalities will participate in the tournament, which will be hosted by France for the third time after 1900 and 1924. In addition to the 29 main disciplines, there will also be breakfans, sport climbing and wave surfing.

89 National Athletes Guaranteed Participation
With less than a month to go until the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the 18 branches in which our national athletes will compete are currently shooting, athletics, badminton, road cycling, boxing, artistic gymnastics, fencing, wrestling, weightlifting, judo, rowing, table tennis, modern pentathlon, archery, taekwondo, sailing, swimming and volleyball.
According to the current list on the website of the Turkish National Olympic Committee, the number of athletes from Turkey guaranteed to participate in Paris 2024 is 89. Of the 13 athletes who won medals at the previous 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, national boxers Busenaz Sürmeneli and Buse Naz Çakıroğlu, Mete Gazoz in archery, Taha Akgül, Rıza Kayaalp and Yasemin Adar Yiğit in wrestling, Ferhat Arıcan in artistic gymnastics, Hatice Kübra İlgün and Hakan Reçber in taekwondo will compete for medals again in Paris 2024. The 4 names who won medals in karate in Tokyo 2020 will not be able to compete in the Olympics as this branch will not be included in Paris 2024.
Medals Contain Old Parts of the Eiffel Tower
The pieces of iron placed in the center of the medals will weigh 18 grams each.
The gold, silver and bronze medals, which will be worn around the necks of the athletes, are embedded with pieces of the Eiffel Tower. The weight of these pieces obtained during the renovation of the tower is 18 grams per medal.
Restriction on Athletes Who Actively Supported Russia in the War
Stating that Russian and Belarusian athletes can only participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games as "Neutral Athletes", the International Olympic Committee also decided that they cannot use their flags, anthems and emblems.
Terror Precautions in Paris
French Ambassador for Sport Samuel Ducroquet announced that the 2024 Olympic Games will open with a boat parade of athletes on the Seine River. As Paris welcomes 16 million tourists, the highest level of security measures will be taken against the risk of terrorism. During the Games, 24,000 special forces, 35,000 police and 18,000 soldiers will be on duty, and security checks will be made from the air. The number of police will increase to 45 thousand at the opening ceremony. Approximately 15,000 athletes will cross the 6.2 kilometers from the Tolbiac Bridge to the Eiffel Tower by boat.
